Brett Lewis is a Research Intern at The Arctic Institute, working with TAI’s Editorial Team.

He is also a third-year PhD student in politics and international relations at Cardiff University. His research interests include Arctic international relations and English School theory.

His research examines how non-Arctic states attempt to gain access to exclusive Arctic discussions through Svalbard in his PhD project, and examines how international society and world society can be applied to the Arctic region in other works. He has further interests in how environmental stewardship may be a core institution of Arctic international society.

Prior to his PhD, Brett completed masters degrees in social science research methods at Cardiff University and international political economy at the University of Warwick. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Swansea University.
