Arctic Security Perceptions: From North America to the Baltic Sea

Wednesday April 3rd, 2019

Join The Arctic Institute for a High North Dialogue 2019 side-event to discuss Arctic Security Perceptions: From North America to the Baltic Sea.

The Arctic is divided. Security interests and concerns in the North American Arctic are not equivalent to those in the European Arctic. The Baltic Sea Region is increasingly linked with issues in the High North / Barents Sea. With an emphasis on Canada and Norway, how do various Arctic security perceptions diverge and overlap? What is the role of the Baltic Sea Region in the security outlook for both countries, as well as for Arctic Geopolitics more generally?

Andreas Østhagen will moderate the side event and discuss Arctic security questions with, among others, Caroline Kennedy-Pipe and Whitney Lackenbauer.

Organised by the High North Center and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Nordic Countries, with co-organisers UTSYN – Forum for Utenriks og Sikkerhet and The Arctic Institute.
