Gabriella Gricius is a Research Associate at The Arctic Institute. She contributes to the production of the TAI’s Bookshelf Podcast.

She is also currently a Research Fellow with the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAADSN) and Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at Colorado State University in the subfields of International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Environmental Politics. Her research areas include Arctic security, ontological security studies, critical security studies, and exploring the roles of experts in national policymaking processes. Gabriella’s work has been published in Global Studies Quarterlythe Arctic YearbookThe LoopNAADSNForeign Policy, and Responsible Statecraft among other outlets.

Gabriella received her Masters in International Security from the University of Groningen, her Bachelors in International Relations and German Language from Boston University, and a Certificate in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is fluent in German and English and working towards fluency in Russian and Dutch. She previously worked at the Public International Law and Policy Group (PILPG-NL), the International Criminal Court, New America, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
