Romain F.R. Chuffart is a Research Intern at The Arctic Institute. He is in charge of writing for the new The Arctic This Week App. His research interests include indigenous rights, law of the sea, environmental law, Arctic cooperation, military and security, and the development of Arctic strategies.
Romain is currently a LL.D candidate at the University of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Finland) where his main research area focuses on indigenous linguistic rights and linguistic accommodations in the Arctic. He holds a MA in Polar Law from the University of Akureyri, Iceland and a BA in translation (Danish/French/English) from the University of Mons, Belgium. During his post-graduate studies, he was a participant in Model Arctic Council in Fairbanks, Alaska and he had the opportunity to study as an exchange student from one semester at Ilisimatusarfik (University of Greenland) in Nuuk. Romain also recently published an article in the Arctic Yearbook 2017 about local collaborations in the Arctic.
